Freddy Adu craze hits Florida
Young soccer fans line up for autographs from Freddy Adu, who plays for Utah’s Real Salt Lake in the Major Soccer League.
More than 200 young soccer fans took the field with soccer phenom, Freddy Adu, at the Scoring for Care Soccer Exhibition on May 28, 2007 in Orlando, Florida.
Local kids got the chance to meet 18-year-old Adu as well as players from the Central Florida Kraze team by raising funds to support the Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Florida and WFH USA. Not only did the event raise $8,000 and give young soccer hopefuls a chance to learn from the pros, it also broadened awareness of hemophilia in both a local and international context.
“We met people that we’ve never met before,” says organizer, Fran Hayes, executive director of Hemophilia Foundation of Greater Florida. “Scoring for Care helped us attract new volunteers and got our message out through local newspapers, radio, and TV. On top of that, we got to work with the Kraze. That’s a community connection we can build upon.”
WFH USA thanks Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for their exceptional support of Scoring for Care.
