About bleeding disorders
Bleeding disorders are caused by a lack of sufficient clotting factors in blood and can be treated safely and effectively. Yet 75% of 400,000 people worldwide with hemophilia, the most widely known bleeding disorder, do not receive the treatment they require. They face a life filled with acute pain, severely deteriorating limbs and joints, and permanent disability. They also risk acquiring HIV, hepatitis C, and other blood-borne infections from the use of unsafe blood products. Many die before reaching adulthood.
For those living in the developed world, life prospects are much brighter. Children with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders are healthy, active and strong. They have the same chance as everyone else of living long and well. That’s the future the WFH is working towards for everyone, everywhere.
